Since its initial gathering, the CJACLC has coordinated efforts to preserve and promote California’s Japantowns, including the passage of the California Japantown Preservation Bill (SB 307), which was the first piece of legislation of its kind in the country, and the development of the California Japantown Landmark as a common commemoration of these important community assets.
